With the elections out of the way there are loads of angry bloggers out there.
(then again the content would just be happy and not talk about it)
MICA begins to trawl the web and reconsiders the blogging situation,
fears of repercusion begin again.
hello MICA-guy! i hope you had a good lunch break!
I say the apathy will win out again and in a years time, who will still talk about this over coffee? who remember standing in muddy rallies standing on the train after coming to terms with october's transport fare increase? Gomez? is that a muppet? oh is she a singer?
Singaporeans aren't as deep as we set ourselves out to be. The goverment started it and certainly won't stop it, driven not by hunger for power but by their own fears and uncertainty in bringing Singapore into the world's churning economy. Betrayed by our own shallowness in the implict 'if you can't beat them buy them' pragmatism that has extended to our international relations (take a bow GLCs!) to foreign talent (hey expats!) to local politics (Progress Package!) to education (study hard, be super-scale son!). Its not wrong, its just an old solution to finding a global significance for Singapore. A solution that is also very difficult to explain to an electorate that is facing a harsh reality and doesn't speak in jargon of economy.
But its alright, the investors are happy, the goverment is stable and the cost of living is just going to keep rising.
We'll just forget, until 2011.
